Solanco cross country coach Craig Ausel is optimistic about his teams' prospects.
"This is an exciting year for Solanco cross country," Ausel said via email. "We have really strong returning veterans and an exciting group of new student-athletes. This is especially true on the boys side." PIAA State Meet qualifier Noah Brady will lead the boys team. Seniors Matthew Curran and Kyle Munro and junior Liam Hodgson each add talent and experience. "All four of these young men understand training and racing and will be prepared to lead their teammates into the postseason." Solanco junior Noah Brady finished 132nd in a time of 17:45 at the PIAA State Championships cross country meet Saturday.
The Solanco boys and girls cross country teams turned in a solid showing at the Lancaster-Lebanon League meet Tuesday, October 15 in Ephrata.
"It was a very good day," coach Craig Ausel said. The Solanco cross country squad faced some of the other top teams in the league at Manheim Central Tuesday, September 24.
"Cross country is a great sport in which you can often be very successful and yet not always attain the desired outcomes," Mules coach Craig Ausel said. "We had some outstanding times on this very flat and fast course but so did our competition." The Solanco boys and girls cross country teams got off to a good start in a home meet Tuesday, September 3. The Solanco boys secured three wins and the girls recorded two victories. The Mule boys defeated Donegal (19 -36), Ephrata (20-39) and Warwick (21-34).Noah Brady led the boys with a first place finish in a time of 18:08. "Noah ran a strong race pulling away from his nearest competitor and flaming the victory by 50 seconds," coach Craig Ausel said.
